“Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one
who gains understanding. For wisdom is more
profitable than silver, and her wages are better
than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.”
Proverbs 3:13-15
How different might your life look like if you hadn’t made bad choices out of ignorance? Maybe you chose not to go to college or quit college only to find out the lack of education would hinder your career choices. Or you’ve entered into a romantic relationship for the wrong reasons and it turned into a disaster. I am sure there are more examples yet finding wisdom was not high on your priority list as your immediate wants or desires and you paid a price.
It seems as we get older we tend to chase after the temporal. Meaning, that retirement home on
the lake or off in the quietness of the woods. How about nice possessions that show off your power and prestige but what about finding true wisdom?
This verse talks about wisdom being more profitable than silver and her wages are better than gold. Nothing you desire can compare to her (wisdom, Holy Spirit). Do you believe that wisdom can bring joy? If yes, how do you seek wisdom? Proverbs 9:10 is a great starting place. “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”
