“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand
what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I
will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in
Heaven.” Revelation 2:17a NLT
On the morning of 11/22/24 I was getting ready to walk outside with my dog Maggie, I noticed it was snowing a bit. My first instinct was UGH. But as I looked closer at the white delicate fluffy stuff called snow what came to mind was Manna. It seriously looked like the manna described in Exodus 16, This manna story is also referenced throughout the bible in Psalm 78:24, John 6:48-58 and Revelation 2:17. The hidden manna talked about reminded me of Christmas not because of the snow but because of the hidden manna, the hidden promises Jesus, a human yet divine little baby entered the world has provided for us if we believe. Hidden promises are not found in the gifts we feel we need to receive, but how about the gifts we give, not because we have to, but because the Holy Spirit leads us.
A few years ago Christmas was a blue Christmas for me and we did not get a tree, of course a few days prior to Christmas my husband said we need a tree for the grandkids. The Spirit moved me and I created the most beautiful manger scene on the bottom shelf of our wooden Harley table and in the hay I laid a baby wrapped in linen. When the grandkids came over and saw no tree and started to ask questions about why. Then when they saw the manager their eyes lit up and more questions came my way. What a hidden treasure (manna) to be able to feed our grandkids with the story of Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas.
